Lingamma watches her children splash in the cool, clean water; a smile softens her face as her kids laugh and play.. It’s hard to imagine that not long ago, they were facing an uphill battle.
Before the sun had even fully risen, Lingamma’s day would begin in darkness. There was no electricity to light the way, only the overgrown path ahead. With a child balanced on her hip and a pot on her head, she would set out on a walk of over a kilometer into the forest.
They were dependent on muddy forest ponds for their daily water. In the summer, the situation became dire as the water turned stagnant and filthy. But they had no choice.
Because of your generosity, Lingamma’s life has changed forever.
Your support brought a water well right to her village. Clean, safe water flows year-round now, just steps from her home.
Along with the well, you provided vital hygiene training. She learned how to identify safe water, the importance of handwashing, and how to prevent illness.
Lingamma’s children are no longer plagued by constant sickness. Their medical expenses have dropped, and they are active and healthy in school. The time and energy once drained by the daily water crisis are now poured into caring for her family and supporting their farming work.
“This well is like life to us,” Lingamma says, her eyes filled with gratitude. “My children can grow healthy, and I am not afraid anymore. You gave us freedom from our biggest struggle.”
Today, the village well is a gathering place of joy. Women meet there with smiles, dignity, and health restored.
